The tiny clothes are cute, but it’s the practical things that save the day!
- Nappies - Start with size 1. You'll go through a fair few!
- Wipes or cotton wool and water - Especially in the early days.
- Baby vest & sleepsuits - Around 6 of each. Go for soft, easy-access ones (zips are your best friend at 3am).
- Muslins - Stock up. They're your MVP for spills, swaddling, and everything in-between.
Changing and Bath Time
You don’t need a spa setup - just a few calming essentials.
- Nappy Cream - For keeping the skin soft and protected.
- Baby Bath or Bath Support - whichever fits your home best.
- Towels & Washcloths - Hooded towels are especially good as they keep their head warm and don't fall off so easily.
- Muslins - Stock up. They're your MVP for spills, swaddling, and everything in-between.
On the Go Must-Haves
Because you will want fresh air and a decent walk after a few days!
- Travel System - A 2-in-1 stroller with carrycot is the perfect choice as it can be converted when your little one is past the newborn stage.
- Changing Bag - One with lots of pockets and ideally a travel change mat.
- Car Seat - If you're driving home from the hospital, this is essential. They won't let you leave without one!
The Mum Stuff (Don't Forget You!)
You’re not just having a baby - you’re becoming a mum. That deserves a bit of prep too.
- Snacks & drinks - For night feeds. Keep them bedside.
- Comfy clothes - Button-up pyjamas, a dressing gown, and soft bras.
- Big knickers & maternity pads - Glamorous? No. Necessary? Absolutely.
- A notebook or app - For feeds, changes, and those little milestones.
Optional But Lovely
- Play mat or wooden play gym - Great for tummy time once baby’s a few weeks old.
- Soothing white noise or nightlight - To make those night feeds gentler.
