Stay Dry & Cosy - Ready for Walks with the Family!

So, it looks like we're staying in again on Lockdown 3... but there's no reason not to go out and get your daily exercise with your children!

Staying active is really important for your physical and mental health, not just for you but for your children too.  As parents, it can feel very overwhelming finding things to keep your little one occupied and yourself sane.

Simply going for a walk is a pleasure in itself but for your children you may want to make it a little more fun!  Here are a couple of ideas for you to try out!

Stone Painting:

A really popular activity in the first lockdown, you can make this into a fun activity of hunting down some rocks, have a painting session and next time you go for a walk you can leave them in some fun hiding places for other children to find.  You may find a local rock painting group on Facebook and check on who has found your children's rocks!  Even babies can get involved in this activity, what's a bit of messy paint?

Chalk the Walk

Chalk the Walk Lockdown with Children

Inspired by these ‘Chalk the Walk’ ideas from the US it's a great idea for in the garden or on the pavement (just make sure you're following the social distacncing guidelines) Thanks to Jennifer at Jersey Family Fun for sharing these ideas (and letting us use her ‘cycle chalk image’).

Number & Alphabet Hunt

Keeping your toddler's or pre-schoolers learning going during lockdown can me made really easy by asking them to search for numbers (perhaps on doors) and letters (on street signs).  You could even give them a sheet to tick off any numbers and letters that you've seen along the way!

Local Park

There's no beating a trip to the local park for most toddlers and while maintaining social distancing you can wrap you little one's up and go for a swing, slide or if you're lucky make marks in the sand pit!

Lockdown Activity Puddle Jumping

Puddle Jumping

If your toddlers are anything like ours, then there's nothing like getting outside in the rain and jumping in puddles!  Get on those wellies, and a puddle suit if you have one, and get a little muddy!

If you have a newborn, or a baby that's not yet walking, that doesn't mean that you can't explore your local area.  Wrap your little one up with our Essentials Footmuff.
